Ladies 6th Team v UEA 3 W 4-1

The ladies 6s continued their great start to the season with another win, this week against UEA 3s.
The young UEA side started the match with high energy and forced Magpies to work hard to settle into the game. Great defending from Amelia McIntyre and Jane Collins meant the away side rarely pressurised the D. This gave Magpies great confidence and composure; Settling into a better rhythm of play magpies dominated possession in the first half. Good link up play from Mary Nelson, Laura Woodgate and Janna Freeman leading to sustained attacks in the D. Rachael Clifford scored two excellent goals before half time.
Second half UEA came out determined to get back into the game, getting rewarded for their efforts with a sneaky goal.
This ruffled the Magpies feathers and demanded a much higher intensity of play.  Alyssa Walker and Lucy Basey-Fisher worked extremely hard in midfield winning back possession with well-timed tackles. A well taken goal from Georgie Hood increasing the magpies lead to 3:1.
To their credit UEA did not give up, at times Magpies had to grit their teeth and battle their way out of trouble.
Vice Captain Rachael Clifford scored another excellent goal, meaning Magpies won the game 4:1.
