LADIES 1ST MATCH PREVIEW 25TH NOVEMBER 2017

Ladies 1st team v St Albans (Away (L) 1.00pm)

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, travel to St Albans for the first return fixture of the season. Earlier on in the season when Magpies welcomed St Albans to Weybread, Magpies came out 1-0 winners with a goal from Lizzie Clymer. Magpies know St Albans have some very quick, skilful players and that it will be a tough game.

The result against Southgate was the win the team needed. This has moved Magpies up to 5th place in the league table. Magpies linked up well as a team on Saturday, creating plenty of chances and were finally able to convert some. This has helped the teams confidence, knowing they can produce the hockey that they want to play in a league game.

This week the team welcomes back Jess Howland and Lottie Summers.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Katherine Ridley, Katrina Sitch, Charlie Harrison, Annie Nunn, Victoria Findlay, Jess Howland, Lottie Summers, Debbie Francis, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith and Lizzie Clymer.

Ladies 1st Team Match Preview 21st October 2017

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, make the trip to Chelmsford, for one of their biggest games of the season so far. With Chelmsford sitting below Magpies in the table, it is a game that both teams will want three points from.

The loss against Sevenoaks last Saturday was disappointing, but the team played the best they have all season. As with very game each week, the squad have identified things to work in within training this week, which they will aim to take into the game at Chelmsford.

This week the team welcomes back Rose Winter.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Jess Howland, Katherine Ridley, Charlie Harrison, Annie Nunn, Rose Winter, Victoria Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Aoife Lowe-Davies, Lucy Whiting, Alice Woolatt and Lizzie Clymer.

Ladies 1st Team Match Preview 14th October 2017

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, are at home to Sevenoaks, who sit joint top of the league having won all three of their games so far. Sevenoaks are always strong and difficult to play against, which they have shown having beaten Wimbledon 1-0 this season, the team who won the league last season. Magpies know this will be their toughest test so far this season, with team work being key to a good performance.

Last weeks loss against Cambridge City was disappointing for the team, which saw Magpies create chances, but they couldn’t convert any of them into goals. The team did adapt to different formations during the game which was a positive and they will continue to work on these in this weeks game.

This week the team welcomes back Lizzie Clymer and Aoife Lowe-Davies.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Jess Howland, Katherine Ridley, Annie Nunn, Emma Lee-Smith, Victoria Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Aoife Lowe-Davies, Lucy Whiting, Alice Woolatt, Lizzie Clymer and Olivia Locke.

Magpies Mixed Finals Preview

Harleston Magpies Mixed team sponsored by Parson Estate Agents travel to Lee Valley on the 3rd and 4th June looking to regain the National title that they won in 2015. The squad who have been one of the most successful teams in the clubs recent history will play Spencer in the first Semi Final on Saturday 3rd June pushing back at 1-30pm. The second semi final will take place on the same day pushing back at 3-30pm between Stourport and Khalsa. If the team can navigate their way past Spencer then the Final will be played the following day at 4-00pm with the 3rd/4th place match starting at 2-00pm.

The squad reached the Semi Final stage with wins over Bedford (2-1), Bourne Deeping (6-0), Letchworth (4-1), Dereham (walk over) and, in the quarter final, a 7-1 win against Horsham. Spencer have also had a good run to the finals weekend scoring 30 goals and only conceding 10. Magpies will need to continue to be strong in defence to prevent Spencer adding to their 30 goal tally. Magpies will be hoping that their experience of four Final’s appearances in the last five years will guide them to their second National Mixed Trophy title. The squad are strengthened by the fact that eleven of the players that played last year remain in the squad and the team continues to be captained by Magpies Men’s First Team Captain, Leigh Sitch. Magpies have welcomed Katherine Ridley, Jess Howland, Lucy Belsey, Laura Tibbenham and Tim Whiteman to the team.

The squad travel to the weekend in high spirits having continued their strict training regimes in the lead up to the event.

Magpies would like to thank Parson Estate Agents for their continued support of the Mixed XI.

Squad from – Chris Leek (GK), Leigh Sitch (C), Andrew Bedwell, Katherine Ridley, Jess Howland, Thomas Ridley, Simon Hipwell, Lauren Mickleburgh, Lucy Belsey, Richard Larkin, Tim Whiteman, Lizzie Clymer, Maria Andrews, Robbie Kinsella, Lucy Whiting, Laura Tibbenham, Lauren Barber, Katrina Sitch (Coach) and Kevin Ridley (Manager).

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against St Albans HC starting at 2.00pm. This is the final League game of the season and Harleston Magpies need a result this Saturday to be assured of 4th place in the League which would be a good return for all the work they have put in this season. Unfortunately Magpies are at present finishing the season having lost their last three games, but in those three matches there have been periods when their play has been excellent. They just need a performance for the full seventy minutes.

Their nearest rivals at the moment are St Albans who are two points behind and Cambridge City who are three points behind. At the moment Magpies have a better goal difference than both those teams.

Last week at second placed Sevenoaks it was bound to be a very tough fixture and so it proved to be. To be three goals down after 21 minutes was the worst start possible. However all credit to the team after that as they battled through until half time without further damage. In the second half Magpies came out a different team and were the best side and created a number of chances. It was obviously a testing League debut for both Alice Woollatt and Martha Lawrence but they both acquitted themselves very well.

Congratulations to Rose Winter for being selected for the England Under 16 Girls squad against Holland over Easter and to her brother Archie Winter being selected for the England U18 Boys. A big day for the family and a few more miles to clock up!

This week both Annie Nunn and Lauren Mickleburgh remain out injured with Rose Winter and Lauren Rowe both returning to the squad.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Maria Andrews, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Bryony Lund, Abby Gooderham, Rose Winter and Lauren Rowe.

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Sevenoaks HC starting at 12.00pm. Last week Magpies lost 3-1 at home against the League leaders Wimbledon. Despite the result Magpies produced one of their best performances of the season and on another day Magpies might have come away with a draw. In going for the equaliser Magpies were at risk from a counter attack and that is what happened with eight minutes to go. Unfortunately having lost away 2-1 to Cambridge City the week before Magpies are currently going through a sticky patch of results.

Life does not get any easier this week as Sevenoaks are second in the League and pressing Wimbledon very hard for the title with just a three point gap between the teams and separated by a goal difference of two goals. Magpies will need to reproduce the same performance and attitude they showed against Wimbledon but with a disciplined approach.

Despite this Magpies remain in 4th place having had a good season so far and will want to make sure they hold on to this position for the final two League games of the season. This was helped last week by Cambridge City losing at home to Hampstead and Westminster and St Albans drawing away at Chelmsford. Magpies play St Albans at home in their final match of the season.

This week both Annie Nunn and Lauren Mickleburgh remain out injured as well as Rose Winter, Anna Tighe and Lauren Rowe being unavailable.

This means League debuts for both Martha Lawrence and Alice Woollatt.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Maria Andrews, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Bryony Lund, Abby Gooderham, Martha Lawrence and Alice Woollatt.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against League leaders Wimbledon HC starting at 2.00pm. Last week Magpies lost 2-1 away against

Cambridge City after having taken an early lead through Maria Andrews. This was a disappointing result and although Magpies played well in periods it was not enough to get a result on the day. Having drawn 2-2 away the previous week at Southgate Magpies have now slipped down to 4th place.

This week Harleston need to get back on track at home where they have a good record this season, but they will be coming up against the League leaders Wimbledon who have won 13 matches and lost only two all season. However they did surprisingly lose 2-0 away at Cambridge two weeks ago.

Wimbledon have 39 points with second placed Sevenoaks still on their heels with 36 points with just three matches left to play. There are two familiar names on the Wimbledon team sheet namely Cherry Seaborn and Lizzie Jones, who both spent many years at Magpies before moving away. Magpies will be very pleased to see them and will hopefully give them a warm welcome!

At the moment Magpies are in 4th place on 30 points just one point behind Hampstead and Westminster and six points clear of 5th placed Cambridge City and St Albans. Magpies have a tough run in to the end of the season with Wimbledon at home, Sevenoaks away and St Albans at home on the last day of the season.

After the match three of the Magpies team namely Debbie Francis, Charlotte Harrison and Louisa Greenacre will be on their way to Gatwick to catch an early morning flight to Jersey to play in the next round of the over 35’s Cup. Rose Winter Captain of the U16 team will be on her way to Stourport to play in the Regional Finals.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Rose Winter, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Maria Andrews, Lauren Rowe, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting and Bryony Lund. Abby Gooderham is unavailable and Annie Nunn is still injured.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Cambridge City HC starting at 12.30pm. Last week Magpies drew 2-2 away against Southgate in a tough physical match. Magpies twice took the lead through Maria Andrews and Abby Gooderham, but each time Southgate equalised disappointingly in the 35th minute and 66th minute. From that situation Magpies would have hoped to see out time in each half.

Cambridge City had a busy weekend drawing 1-1 away at St Albans on the Saturday. On the Sunday they had a rearranged game against League leaders Wimbledon. Wimbledon are the current favourites to win the League, but Cambridge beat them 2-0 at home to record an impressive win. Surprisingly second placed Sevenoaks also slipped up on a rearranged League game when they lost 2-1 away to St Albans.

Magpies will be looking to get back to winning ways again this weekend, but the Wimbledon result shows that this is going to be another challenging match. At the moment Magpies remain in 3rd place with 30 points, just three points behind second placed Sevenoaks. Cambridge City are 5th with 21 points.

Lucy Whiting returns to the squad.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Rose Winter, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lauren Rowe, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting and Bryony Lund.

Magpies Ladies Weekend Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Southgate HC starting at 12.30pm. Last week Magpies beat Chelmsford at home 3-1 finishing with a strong second half performance, despite conceding an equaliser early in the second half. It was another good result but there were plenty of opportunities for Magpies to have scored more goals. The goals were scored by Tor Findlay, Maria Andrews and Lauren Barber. After last weekend Magpies remain in 3rd place with 29 points.

Southgate played two matches last weekend losing 4-1 to Hampstead and Westminster on Saturday but beating Northampton Saints 5-0 at home on the Sunday. Alexandra Fenwick scored from two penalty corners and this is a name Magpies will remember well as she scored a hatrick at Magpies back in October. Fortunately on that day Magpies scored 5 goals with two decisive late goals from Lucy Whiting. Southgate are presently in 8th place with 12 points.

Lucy Whiting is unavailable this week but Lauren Rowe returns to the squad.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Rose Winter, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lauren Rowe, Charlotte Harrison and Bryony Lund.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against Chelmsford HC starting at 2.00pm. Last week Magpies were lucky with the weather in that their game against Hampstead and Westminster was able to go ahead when so many other matches in the East were called off. As expected Hampstead gave Magpies a very hard match. Magpies scored two goals in a minute in the first half from Maria Andrews and Lizzie Clymer to give them a 2-0 lead. In the second half Magpies had plenty of defending to do as the visitors pulled a goal back and then pressed very hard for an equaliser. Magpies managed to hold on to all three points and to increase the gap on 4th placed Hampstead to four points.

At the moment Magpies remain in 3rd place with 26 points, but with the top two teams Wimbledon and Sevenoaks not playing last week they have also closed the gap on second placed Sevenoaks to one point and Wimbledon to four points. Chelmsford were also able to play their match last week beating West Herts 2-1 at home. Chelmsford are in 7th place on 14 points. Earlier in the season Magpies beat Chelmsford 2-1 away with both goals scored by Maria Andrews. Magpies will be looking for their high scoring team to continue their good form and to keep their unbeaten home record going. Lauren Rowe is unavailable and Lauren Mickleburgh returns to the squad. Annie Nunn is still out injured.

This week Magpies have Rose Winter, Abby Gooderham and Maria Andrews all involved in different England aged training groups so we hope it goes well for all of them.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Rose Winter, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lucy Whiting, Charlotte Harrison and Bryony Lund.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against Hampstead and Westminster starting at 2.00pm. Last week Magpies returned to League action away against the bottom team Northampton and came away with a clinical 7-1 win. It was encouraging to see the goals coming from five different players namely Lauren Mickleburgh 2, Abby Gooderham 2, Lauren Rowe, Tor Findlay and Lizzie Clymer.

Hampstead and Westminster will not bring back very good memories to the Magpies players from their meeting earlier in the season in London, when Magpies scored first but went on to lose 4-1. There will be plenty of lessons to learn from that experience and there will be no better time to turn the tables than this week with home advantage. At the moment Magpies remain in 3rd place one point ahead of Hampstead and Westminster, so the teams respective records suggest that they are closely matched. Wimbledon still lead the table with 30 points, closely followed by Sevenoaks with 27 points and Magpies with 23 points.

Lauren Mickleburgh is unavailable this week and Annie Nunn is still recovering from her injury sustained during the Indoor season. Magpies will call up Anna Tighe and Rose Winter from the 2nd team, especially as the 2nd team are also at home this weekend. Anna has already played for the first team this season, but for Rose who played for the England Under 16s last season this will be her first team League debut.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Rose Winter, Anna Tighe, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Rowe, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lucy Whiting, Charlotte Harrison and Bryony Lund.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents return to outdoor National League action this Saturday away against Northampton Saints starting at 2.15pm. This will be their first outdoor League match since November 26th due to the rather prolonged Indoor season.

Frozen pitches have hampered Magpies in their preparations but they did play a very useful friendly last Sunday against St Albans, who they beat 1-0 thanks to a goal from Maria Andrews.

Magpies had an excellent first half of the season and are currently third in the League seven points behind the leaders Wimbledon and four points behind second placed Sevenoaks.

Northampton who were promoted into the League this season have found the going tough and are currently bottom of the League with one point. Magpies beat them 5-0 at home earlier in the season. Magpies finished the first half of the season with a bang beating West Herts 6-0 and if they want to push on in the second half of the season they will need to make sure that there are no slip ups this weekend and that they are clinical in their work to make sure of all three points.

Maria Andrews remains the leading goal scorer in this League with 11 goals. Unfortunately Annie Nunn is unavailable for a few weeks following an injury sustained during the Indoor League season.

However this gives Lauren Rowe an opportunity to make her outdoor National League debut.

Magpies finished the Indoor League season with an impressive win against Surbiton in their last match to ensure their status in Division 1 for next season.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Rowe, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lucy Whiting, Charlotte Harrison and Bryony Lund.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against West Herts HC starting at 2.00pm.

Magpies suffered their second defeat of the season last week when they lost 2-1 away to Wimbledon who are level on points with Sevenoaks at the top of the League. After the disappointment of that result Magpies will be looking to return to winning ways in their final match prior to the EHL winter break and before their attention turns to the Indoor programme. The return to the squad of Charlotte Harrison and Bryony Lund should see Magpies at nearly full strength.

Magpies beat West Herts away 5-2 in their opening game of the season but the score line does not tell the full story as West Herts attacking play caused Magpies plenty of problems and it was the West Herts defence which proved to be their weakness. West Herts will be encouraged by their first League win last week when they beat Northampton at home 3-1 and they will have plenty to fight for as that win gives them four points for the season and the potential to pull away from the relegation position.

After losing last week Magpies have slipped back into 4th place two points behind Hampstead and Westminster. West Herts are in 9th place one position above the automatic relegation spot.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Annie Nunn, Maria Andrews, Lucy Whiting, Charlotte Harrison and Bryony Lund.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Wimbledon HC starting at 2.00pm.

Last week Magpies had a stunning 1-0 home win against the League leaders Sevenoaks who previously had a 100% record of seven straight wins. A penalty flick well taken by Maria Andrews was the match winning goal to increase her tally for the season to eight goals. At the other end a penalty flick awarded to Sevenoaks with two minutes to go was saved by goalkeeper Tosh Peet with a great diving save. Despite that defeat Sevenoaks are still at the top but Wimbledon who are in second place are now level on points with Sevenoaks.

Clearly Wimbledon away will be another top clash and another challenge for Magpies who are in third place four points behind the top two teams and have only been beaten once this season. They will also come up against former Magpies player Cherry Seaborn.

There will be a few changes to the Magpies squad this weekend which sees Jess Howland and Hannah de Selincourt join the squad.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Annie Nunn, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lucy Whiting, Jess Howland and Hannah de Selincourt

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Sunday against the League leaders Sevenoaks HC starting at 2.00pm.

Last week Magpies returned to winning ways with a 2-1 away win at Chelmsford. Magpies were 2-0 up at half time thanks to two goals from Maria Andrews and they should have been 3-0 up. As always happens Chelmsford pulled a goal back and then Magpies had a battle on their hands, but Magpies just could not find that third goal to ensure a more comfortable win.

This Sunday on Sponsors Day Magpies will be faced with a real test against Sevenoaks who sit top of the League table with maximum points with seven wins out of seven matches played. Goals for 30 against 5 conceded. Sevenoaks have recruited well during the summer including South African player coach Jen Wilson who joined them from Canterbury. Wimbledon remain in second place three points behind the leaders, whilst Magpies are in third place four points behind Wimbledon.

Maria Andrews with two goals last week is now the second highest scorer in this League. Sevenoaks have the next three leading scorers with Jess Deniff, Cathy Gilliat-Smith and Maddie Thompson having scored 17 goals between them, but surprisingly only one from penalty corners.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Bryony Lund, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Charlotte Harrison, Annie Nunn, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lucy Whiting and Kara Kilbourn

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Chelmsord HC starting at 2.00pm.

Last week there was no League game so Magpies had a long time to reflect on their 4-1 defeat the previous week against Hampstead and Westminster. Clearly they will be one of the top three teams in the League and Magpies were not at full strength but it was still a disappointing way for Magpies to lose their first game of the season.

Still Magpies need to get back on track this week when they play Chelmsford away and the return of Lizzie Clymer, Kara Kilbourn and Lauren Mickleburgh makes it look a more familiar squad to the one that has been playing most of the season. At the moment Magpies are in 4th place with eleven points and Chelmsford are in 8th place with five points. Magpies have had mixed results at Chelmsford in recent years, but they need a good result this week with some very tough games in the next few weeks against the top teams Sevenoaks and Wimbledon.

Chelmsford started the season with a 1-1 draw away at Northampton, drew 0-0 at home to Hampstead and Westminster, beat West Herts away 6-4, lost at home to League leaders Sevenoaks 6-1 and lost away to Southgate 1-0.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Bryony Lund, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Charlotte Harrison, Annie Nunn, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews and Kara Kilbourn.

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Hampstead and Westminster HC starting at 1.30 pm.

Last week after a disappointing first half against Southgate Maria Andrews scored a crucial goal to level the score at 1-1 just before half time. Despite going 2-1 down early in the second half Magpies finished much the stronger of the two teams to run out 5-3 winners to record another impressive win, although they will be disappointed to have conceded three goals. This will be the third time Magpies have scored five goals in a match this season and they are currently 3rd in the League.

Hampstead & Westminster are 4th in the League one place and one point behind Magpies. They have lost 2-1 at home to Wimbledon, drawn 0-0 away at Chelmsford, beaten St Albans 2-1 at home, beaten Southgate away 5-2 and last week they beat Northampton 7-3 away.

This will probably be Magpies toughest test to date and last season Magpies lost 1-0 to the London team in the final minute.

At the moment the League is settling down with Sevenoaks at the top looking very impressive with Wimbledon in second place. Those will be two challenging matches for Magpies to play in the coming weeks.

SQUAD FROM: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Bryony Lund, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Annie Nunn, Abby Gooderham, Hannah de Selincourt, Anna Tighe and Maria

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against Southgate HC starting at 2.00pm.

Last week Lizzie Clymer scored a 68th minute equaliser to make it 2-2 and this late fight back was achieved with only ten players on the pitch. It showed great fighting spirit to come back so late in the game, but they were left to reflect on all those chances that they created in the opening ten minutes of the match and never took one of them. Maria Andrews put Magpies 1-0 up after 21 minutes and by that time Magpies should have been out of sight. As always happens St Albans came back into the game with two goals in the second half to take the lead and by this point Magpies had lost their composure. The equaliser came as quite a relief.

This week Southgate HC are the visitors to Weybread and they have made a steady start in their return to the East Conference. They are in 5th place with five points, three points behind Magpies who are in third place. Southgate have drawn 3—3 with Cambridge City, drawn 2-2 with St Albans, beaten Northampton 4-0 and last week lost 5-2 to Hampstead and Westminster. The picture seems to be emerging of a team who can score plenty of goals but at the moment are conceding too many. In Alexandra Fenwick they have the leading goal scorer in the League with six goals.

SQUAD FROM: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Bryony Lund, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Kara Kilbourn, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Annie Nunn, Abby Gooderham and Maria Andrews

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday at St Albans starting at 1.00pm.

Magpies were unable to keep their 100% record going last week against Cambridge City after conceding an early goal in the first half. A great fight back in the second half saw Maria Andrews equalise which was the least they deserved and they had the chances to win in the second half.

Even so Magpies have made a very good start to the season with two wins and a draw and are currently in second place behind a very strong looking Sevenoaks side.

St Albans have made a slow start to the season having lost their opening game 5-0 away at Sevenoaks, followed by a 2-2 draw at home against Southgate. Last week they lost 2-1 away at Hampstead and Westminster, which leaves them in 8th position with one point.

St Albans have had a much tougher start to the season than Magpies, but Magpies have the confidence and the momentum going into this match based on some good results. This week sees Charlotte Peet return in goal for Magpies after being unavailable last week. Thanks goes to Jade Daly for standing in last week.

Abby Gooderham is unavailable this week because of a school fixture but otherwise Magpies have much the same squad they have had all season.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Bryony Lund, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Charlotte Peet, Kara Kilbourn, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Annie Nunn and Maria Andrews

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against Cambridge City starting at 2.00pm.

Magpies have made a flying start to the season beating West Herts 5-2 away and last week beating Northampton Saints at home 5-0 and are currently top of the East Conference on goal difference from Wimbledon. With a very new look forward line this season to score ten goals in the opening two games is remarkable and the goals have been shared around with seven different goal scorers.

This week the forward line will be strengthened further by the return of England U18 player Abby Gooderham after injury.

However Magpies are aware that they have probably just played the weakest two teams in the League having both been promoted from the East and Midlands Leagues respectively. These teams still have to be beaten and Magpies could do no more than they have done and they have six precious points in the bag. History tells us that Magpies have not always put away struggling teams.

Cambridge City were one of the leading teams in the League last season and Magpies had two tough matches against them last season. Cambridge City have not got off to a flyer this season having drawn 3-3 away with Southgate in the opening game and last week lost 2-0 at home to Sevenoaks. Sevenoaks look to have strengthened considerably this season so that will have been a difficult fixture.

It promises to be an interesting match this week.

Injury wise Annie Nunn completed her first match back last week and Lauren Barber came through her second game unscathed.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Bryony Lund, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Lauren Mickleburgh, Abby Gooderham, Jade Daly, Kara Kilbourn, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Annie Nunn and Maria Andrews
