LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 10TH NOVEMBER 2018

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against St Albans starting at 1.30.

St Albans current form sees them 6th in the League with wins against Southgate and Ipswich. A draw against Horsham and two defeats to Sevenoaks and Hampstead. Matches against St Albans have traditionally been close with both teams having the better of the results when playing at home. Having played St Albans in a preseason friendly both teams will know what to expect from each other, but the onus will be on Magpies to make the most of their home advantage.
After Saturday’s 5-0 home win last week against Ipswich Magpies have gone to the top of the League with a two point gap over second placed Hampstead. This is the best start Magpies have made to a season for 6 years and it is important that they continue their momentum this week against St Albans. Clearly Lauren Rowe is in stunning form having scored all five goals last week and the week before scored both goals against Sevenoaks. Lauren is currently the leading goal scorer in the League with 11 goals, which is an impressive tally.
All these results this season have been achieved against a background of injuries and illnesses which have stretched the squad. This week Rose Winter and Georgie Cantrell will be unavailable because of school commitments, but Louisa Greenacre and Jess Bloom should return to the squad. There are still injury doubts about two players.

Squad From: Lauren Barber (Capt), Megan Brown, Katrina Sitch, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Lara Taylor, Lauren Rowe, Louisa Greenacre, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lucy Whiting, Jess Bloom, Charlotte Harrison, Charlotte Seaman, Emma Lee-Smith and Annie Nunn.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 3RD NOVEMBER 2018

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against Ipswich starting at 1.30.

If the 2-0 win against League leaders Cambridge City two weeks ago was a great performance, last weeks 2-1 away win at Sevenoaks was an even better result. Sevenoaks is a very tough place to go and Magpies do not often come away from there with a result. The result is even more remarkable as the squad was short of a number of players due to injury and illness. Despite the loss of a number of key players Magpies were very composed in the first half and took the lead early on when Lauren Rowe scored from a penalty corner. Lauren soon followed this up with a second goal from a corner to lead 2-0. Sevenoaks inevitably came back very strongly and at the end Magpies were hanging on to a 2-1 lead. Had Lauren Rowe’s great goal in the second half not been inexplicably disallowed the finish would have been a lot more comfortable. Last week Charlotte Seaman and Georgie Gardens made their first team League debuts.
Cambridge City are still top of the League on goal difference from Magpies who have the same number of points as them. At the moment all the big teams Wimbledon, Hampstead and Sevenoaks are in 3rd, 4th and 5th position. With Magpies and Cambridge both recording notable wins against the fancied teams last week this may lead to a much tighter League than anybody could have anticipated.
Ipswich have returned to the National League this season and at the moment are finding the going quite tough and they just need a result to get them going. We have to make sure it does not happen on Saturday. Losing last week 1-0 to Southgate in the final seconds of the match is never easy to handle. This week is likely to be a very competitive local derby match and based on the pre season friendly it will be a tight match.

Probable Squad: Lauren Barber (Capt), Jade Daly, Katrina Sitch, Rose Winter, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Lara Taylor, Lauren Rowe, Georgie Cantrell, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Rose Winter, Charlotte Harrison, Charlotte Seaman and Annie Nunn.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 3RD NOVEMBER 2018

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against Ipswich starting at 1.30.
Magpies after their great performance in beating League leaders Cambridge City at home 2-0 two weeks ago, have followed this up last week with an even better result beating Sevenoaks away 2-1.
Cambridge City are still top of the League on goal difference from Magpies who have the same number of points as them. At the moment all the big teams Wimbledon, Hampstead and Sevenoaks are in 3rd, 4th and 5th position. With Magpies and Cambridge both recording notable wins against the fancied teams this may lead to a much tighter League than anybody could have anticipated.
Ipswich have returned to the National League this season and at the moment are finding the going quite tough and they just need a result to get them going. Losing last week 1-0 to Southgate in the final seconds of the match is never easy to handle. LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 27TH OCTOBER 2018

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Sevenoaks starting at 12.00. Magpies after their great result and performance last Sunday beating Cambridge City at home 2-0 have moved up into 3rd place in the League on 9 points. Cambridge City are in second place on the same points (with a superior goal difference) with Hampstead top on 10 points. After three wins and one defeat to Wimbledon at home in a 4-3 thriller Magpies have made a very positive start to the season, but Sevenoaks away will be their hardest test so far.
Sevenoaks away has always been a tough place to go, but Magpies have a much stronger squad this season which is coping well with a number of critical injuries including the loss of Captain Lucy Belsey for the season. Last Sunday the availability of Rose Winter and Lottie Summers who are in the England U18 training squad was a big boost to the group and they played significant roles in the win over Cambridge City.
Sevenoaks are currently in 4th place one point behind Magpies and two weeks ago they drew at home 1-1 against Hampstead, who won this League last season. Last week Sevenoaks drew 1-1 with Wimbledon away who won this League two years ago. So Sevenoaks have performed well against these top sides and these three teams have been the teams to beat these last few seasons.
The result against Cambridge City was very pleasing as it was achieved without three players who would be expected to start most matches. The defence has responded well to the loss of Lucy Belsey with Lauren Barber who has taken over the Captaincy stepping into the defence and making an excellent job of her new role. Coach Clyde Camburn is developing a very competitive team with players able to play in a number of positions to give him the flexibility he needs. This will be the biggest test so far and the belief in the squad is growing all the time.

Probable Squad: Lauren Barber (Capt), Megan Brown, Katrina Sitch, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Lara Taylor, Lauren Rowe, Georgie Cantrell, Jess Bloom, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Rose Winter, Lottie Summers and Annie Nunn.

1ST TEAM PREVIEW 20TH OCTOBER 2018

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this SUNDAY against League leaders Cambridge City starting at 1.30pm.
Cambridge City have beaten Southgate at home 5-0, Ipswich at home 3-0 and Bedford away 3-0. They have maximum points with a number of heavy weight teams close behind them namely Sevenoaks, Hampstead and Wimbledon.
Magpies have also had a very positive start to the season beating Bedford 3-0 away in their opening game. Beating Southgate away last week 3-1 with goals from Lauren Rowe and Lara Taylor 2. In between those two games Magpies had a fantastic match at home against Wimbledon. Two down in the first half but level by half time at 2-2. Magpies stunned Wimbledon by going 3-2 up. Magpies could not quite hang on as Wimbledon scored the winner with four minutes to go.
However Magpies will have learnt that they have the capability to take on the top teams in this League and they will need that same tenacity on Sunday if they are going to get a result against a confident Cambridge City side.
Last week at Southgate Magpies took an early lead after 3 minutes. It was hoped this would settle the team down, but instead Southgate looked the more threatening team in the first half. It was no surprise when Southgate equalised before half time. However two tremendous goals from Lara Taylor at the start of the second half effectively killed the game off.

Squad from: Lauren Barber (Capt), Megan Brown, Katrina Sitch, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Lara Taylor, Lauren Rowe, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith, Jess Bloom, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Rose Winter, Lottie Summers, Charlotte Seaman and Annie Nunn.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 13TH OCTOBER 2018

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday at Southgate starting at 2.00pm. Southgate have had a tough start to the season losing their opening two matches 5-0 away to Cambridge City in the opening fixture and 3-0 at home last week to Sevenoaks. Both these matches were against two of the potential top teams in this League so it is difficult to assess the potential strength of Southgate at the moment. They did have a difficult time last season and just survived relegation by winning two play off matches.
Magpies on the other hand have had a very positive start to the season winning their opening match away at Bedford 3-0. Last week we lost 4-3 at home to Wimbledon in a tremendous match against a team who have ambitions to win the League this season. In the first half Wimbledon went into a 2-0 lead and at this point they would have felt very comfortable. However in a 5 minute spell just before half time Magpies levelled the scores from two penalty corners through Lara Taylor and Emma Lee-Smith. This set the match up for an intriguing second half. Magpies struck first through Lauren Rowe to put Magpies 3-2 in front. To be fair to Wimbledon they responded like a top team and put Magpies under pressure levelling the scores with 10 minutes to go. Unfortunately Magpies could not hold on to what would have been an amazing result and conceded the winner with four minutes left to go.
However it will give Magpies the belief that they can take on the top teams and push them all the way. This week they have to make sure they maintain the same attitude if they want to get the result.

1st Team Squad against Southgate: Lauren Barber (Capt), Megan Brown, Katrina Sitch, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Charlotte Harrison, Lara Taylor, Emily Rash, Lauren Rowe, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith, Jess Bloom, Lizzie Clymer and Tor Findlay.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 6TH OCTOBER 2018

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against Wimbledon starting at 1.30pm. This will be one of our toughest games of the season as Wimbledon came 2nd last season and won the League the season before narrowly missing out in the play offs to qualify for the Premier Division. Both Wimbledon and Hampstead and Westminster were the top two teams last season and ironically they met in the opening match of the season last week with Hampstead winning 3-0.
Magpies made a tremendous start to the season last week beating Bedford 3-0 away. Over the years this has been a difficult place to go and we drew 1-1 last season. After a sticky start Magpies took the lead through Tor Findlay who managed to hold off the attentions of the Bedford goalkeeper to slip the ball into the goal. Rose Winter made it 2-0 before half time with a cracking cross shot from the right of the circle. From then on Magpies were always in control and Lauren Rowe completed the scoring in the second half with a reverse stick shot. This was a very sold all round team performance.
Last year against Wimbledon we lost 4-0 at home to a very impressive Wimbledon performance. In the return fixture in London Magpies lost 2-1 in a much improved performance and we were always in the game right until the end. Magpies will be looking for that type of performance again on Saturday to push Wimbledon all the way.
Magpies will be without Rose Winter this week but Emily Rash has been called up to make her first team debut.|
1st Team Squad against Wimbledon: Lauren Barber (Capt), Megan Brown, Katrina Sitch, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Charlotte Harrison, Lara Taylor, Emily Rash, Lauren Rowe, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith, Jess Bloom, Lizzie Clymer and Tor Findlay.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW – SEASON 2018 – 2019

Ladies 1st  Team 20th  Season in the National League

Harleston Magpies Ladies 1St team start the season on Saturday with an away game against Bedford at 1.30pm. This will be their 20th successive season in the National League, which is an astonishing achievement for a Club with such a rural location and competing with the London Clubs like Wimbledon and Hampstead, who have far greater resources and opportunities to recruit players.
This will be a very important season because of the changes to the National League for the following season. For the season 2019-20 the National League will have a new structure which involves reducing the number of National League teams from 40 to 30. The current structure has a Premier Division and a West, East and North Conference. The following season there will be a Premier Division (10) and a Division 1 North (10) and a Division 1 South (10). This is quite a change. For Magpies to qualify for a Division 1 place they will have to finish in the top 6 of the East Conference this season.
Clyde Camburn returns as Head coach for his third spell and he has had a remarkable record of achievement in his previous spells. This time he has added Annie Nunn, Emma Lee-Smith and Debbie Francis as Assistant coaches to ensure that we utilise the vast experience and knowledge they all have of playing at this level.
On the playing side Annie Nunn has stood down from playing to concentrate on coaching. Charlotte Peet (Tosh) will not be playing in goal this season after many years of playing at this level. Both these players have made a big contribution. We have also lost a number of younger players who have moved on to College and University. Most significantly it looks like Captain Lucy Belsey is out for the season having suffered a terrible shoulder injury in the last 30 seconds of a pre season match at St Albans. Lucy has had an operation during the week and we can only wish her well on her long recovery. The squad will miss her as a Captain and a player. Vice Captain Lauren Barber will step up to lead the team.
Despite this loss the squad looks promising and Megan Brown will take over in goal and we are fortunate that she already has plenty of National League experience. Jess Bloom has returned to the Club after a number of years away playing for Premier League Clubs and that experience should be invaluable. Lara Taylor has joined from Norwich Dragons and has been impressive in pre season. In addition Rose Winter played England U18s last year and both her and Lottie Summers have been selected to train with the England U18 squad this season, although Lottie is currently recovering from glandular fever. Although too young to play for the 1s Georgie Gardens was also called up to train with England U16 squad. Preparations for the new season have included matches against Framlingham College, Reading, St Albans and Ipswich.

The Ladies 2s were promoted back to the East Premier League and they started the season last week losing 1-0 away to Canterbury 2s in a tight game. This will be a big step up for them but they are more than capable of doing well this season.

1st Team Squad at Bedford: Lauren Barber (Capt), Megan Brown, Katrina Sitch, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Charlotte Harrison, Lara Taylor, Rose Winter, Lauren Rowe, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith, Jess Bloom, Lizzie Clymer and Tor Findlay.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 10TH MARCH 2018

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, welcome Hampstead & Westminster to Weybread in what will be another tough match. Hampstead are sitting top of the table and are currently unbeaten. When Magpies travelled to Hampstead earlier in the season and they were beaten 6-0. Hampstead are a very strong team and hard to play against.

With the bad weather it has been a couple of weeks since the teams last outing in which they lost 2-1 to Cambridge. This was a close game in which the team kept fighting and never gave up, which is what they will be hoping to take into this week.

This week the team welcomes back Katherine Ridley and Emma Lee-Smith.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Katrina Sitch, Martha Lawrence, Annie Nunn, Rose Winter, Lottie Summers, Lauren Rowe, Katherine Ridley, Debbie Francis, Lucy Whiting, Charlie Harrison and Emma Lee-Smith.

LADIES 1ST PREVIEW 24TH FEBRUARY 2018

Ladies 1st v Cambridge City

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, welcome Cambridge City to Weybread in what will be another tough match. Cambridge are sitting fourth in the table and when Magpies travelled to Cambridge earlier in the season and were beaten 3-0. This encounter is always close and competitive and the same is sure to happen this weekend.

Last weekend Magpies lost 2-1 to a strong Wimbledon side. This was an encouraging performance for the team and they were very happy that they finish the game so strongly.

This week the team welcomes back Charlie Harrison.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Katrina Sitch, Martha Lawrence, Annie Nunn, Rose Winter, Lottie Summers, Lauren Rowe, Abby Gooderham, Debbie Francis, Lucy Whiting, Charlie Harrison and Lizzie Clymer.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 17TH FEBRUARY 2018

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, travel to Wimbledon in what will be a very tough match. Wimbledon are sitting in third position in the table and still fighting for the promotion play off place. Magpies know this is going to be a hard match as when Wimbledon made the trip to Weybread earlier in the season, Wimbledon came out 4-0 winners.

Last week’s result against Chelmsford has given the team a bit of confidence in themselves as they proved they can score goals. With six different goal scorers at the weekend it shows the team have plenty of threats in front of goal. Magpies now sit in fifth place in the league, 4 points ahead of Barnes who are sixth.

This week the team welcomes back Abby Gooderham.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Katrina Sitch, Martha Lawrence, Annie Nunn, Rose Winter, Lottie Summers, Lauren Rowe, Abby Gooderham, Debbie Francis, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith and Lizzie Clymer.

LADIES 1ST TEAM PREVIEW 10TH FEBRUARY 2018

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, welcome Chelmsford to Weybread. Chelmsford currently sit at the bottom of the league table, but that will not mean it will be an easy game for Magpies. The team will be aiming for another three points to make their position in the league more comfortable.
The result against Barnes was a brilliant way to start the second half of the season with. The team worked well together to create the chances that they then converted. This win means Magpies are now 5 points above the relegation play off place and will be aiming to build the gap with a win this week.
This week the team welcomes back Lizzie Clymer and Martha Lawrence.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Katrina Sitch, Martha Lawrence, Annie Nunn, Rose Winter, Lottie Summers, Lauren Rowe, Debbie Francis, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith and Lizzie Clymer.

LADIES 1ST MATCH PREVIEW 25TH NOVEMBER 2017

Ladies 1st team v St Albans (Away (L) 1.00pm)

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, travel to St Albans for the first return fixture of the season. Earlier on in the season when Magpies welcomed St Albans to Weybread, Magpies came out 1-0 winners with a goal from Lizzie Clymer. Magpies know St Albans have some very quick, skilful players and that it will be a tough game.

The result against Southgate was the win the team needed. This has moved Magpies up to 5th place in the league table. Magpies linked up well as a team on Saturday, creating plenty of chances and were finally able to convert some. This has helped the teams confidence, knowing they can produce the hockey that they want to play in a league game.

This week the team welcomes back Jess Howland and Lottie Summers.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Katherine Ridley, Katrina Sitch, Charlie Harrison, Annie Nunn, Victoria Findlay, Jess Howland, Lottie Summers, Debbie Francis, Lucy Whiting, Emma Lee-Smith and Lizzie Clymer.

Ladies 1st Team Match Preview 21st October 2017

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, make the trip to Chelmsford, for one of their biggest games of the season so far. With Chelmsford sitting below Magpies in the table, it is a game that both teams will want three points from.

The loss against Sevenoaks last Saturday was disappointing, but the team played the best they have all season. As with very game each week, the squad have identified things to work in within training this week, which they will aim to take into the game at Chelmsford.

This week the team welcomes back Rose Winter.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Jess Howland, Katherine Ridley, Charlie Harrison, Annie Nunn, Rose Winter, Victoria Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Aoife Lowe-Davies, Lucy Whiting, Alice Woolatt and Lizzie Clymer.

Ladies 1st Team Match Preview 14th October 2017

This week Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s, sponsored by Musker McIntrye, are at home to Sevenoaks, who sit joint top of the league having won all three of their games so far. Sevenoaks are always strong and difficult to play against, which they have shown having beaten Wimbledon 1-0 this season, the team who won the league last season. Magpies know this will be their toughest test so far this season, with team work being key to a good performance.

Last weeks loss against Cambridge City was disappointing for the team, which saw Magpies create chances, but they couldn’t convert any of them into goals. The team did adapt to different formations during the game which was a positive and they will continue to work on these in this weeks game.

This week the team welcomes back Lizzie Clymer and Aoife Lowe-Davies.

Squad: Lucy Belsey (Captain), Lauren Barber, Charlotte Peet, Louisa Greenacre, Jess Howland, Katherine Ridley, Annie Nunn, Emma Lee-Smith, Victoria Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Aoife Lowe-Davies, Lucy Whiting, Alice Woolatt, Lizzie Clymer and Olivia Locke.

Magpies Mixed Finals Preview

Harleston Magpies Mixed team sponsored by Parson Estate Agents travel to Lee Valley on the 3rd and 4th June looking to regain the National title that they won in 2015. The squad who have been one of the most successful teams in the clubs recent history will play Spencer in the first Semi Final on Saturday 3rd June pushing back at 1-30pm. The second semi final will take place on the same day pushing back at 3-30pm between Stourport and Khalsa. If the team can navigate their way past Spencer then the Final will be played the following day at 4-00pm with the 3rd/4th place match starting at 2-00pm.

The squad reached the Semi Final stage with wins over Bedford (2-1), Bourne Deeping (6-0), Letchworth (4-1), Dereham (walk over) and, in the quarter final, a 7-1 win against Horsham. Spencer have also had a good run to the finals weekend scoring 30 goals and only conceding 10. Magpies will need to continue to be strong in defence to prevent Spencer adding to their 30 goal tally. Magpies will be hoping that their experience of four Final’s appearances in the last five years will guide them to their second National Mixed Trophy title. The squad are strengthened by the fact that eleven of the players that played last year remain in the squad and the team continues to be captained by Magpies Men’s First Team Captain, Leigh Sitch. Magpies have welcomed Katherine Ridley, Jess Howland, Lucy Belsey, Laura Tibbenham and Tim Whiteman to the team.

The squad travel to the weekend in high spirits having continued their strict training regimes in the lead up to the event.

Magpies would like to thank Parson Estate Agents for their continued support of the Mixed XI.

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against St Albans HC starting at 2.00pm. This is the final League game of the season and Harleston Magpies need a result this Saturday to be assured of 4th place in the League which would be a good return for all the work they have put in this season. Unfortunately Magpies are at present finishing the season having lost their last three games, but in those three matches there have been periods when their play has been excellent. They just need a performance for the full seventy minutes.

Their nearest rivals at the moment are St Albans who are two points behind and Cambridge City who are three points behind. At the moment Magpies have a better goal difference than both those teams.

Last week at second placed Sevenoaks it was bound to be a very tough fixture and so it proved to be. To be three goals down after 21 minutes was the worst start possible. However all credit to the team after that as they battled through until half time without further damage. In the second half Magpies came out a different team and were the best side and created a number of chances. It was obviously a testing League debut for both Alice Woollatt and Martha Lawrence but they both acquitted themselves very well.

Congratulations to Rose Winter for being selected for the England Under 16 Girls squad against Holland over Easter and to her brother Archie Winter being selected for the England U18 Boys. A big day for the family and a few more miles to clock up!

This week both Annie Nunn and Lauren Mickleburgh remain out injured with Rose Winter and Lauren Rowe both returning to the squad.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Maria Andrews, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Bryony Lund, Abby Gooderham, Rose Winter and Lauren Rowe.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Sevenoaks HC starting at 12.00pm. Last week Magpies lost 3-1 at home against the League leaders Wimbledon. Despite the result Magpies produced one of their best performances of the season and on another day Magpies might have come away with a draw. In going for the equaliser Magpies were at risk from a counter attack and that is what happened with eight minutes to go. Unfortunately having lost away 2-1 to Cambridge City the week before Magpies are currently going through a sticky patch of results.

Life does not get any easier this week as Sevenoaks are second in the League and pressing Wimbledon very hard for the title with just a three point gap between the teams and separated by a goal difference of two goals. Magpies will need to reproduce the same performance and attitude they showed against Wimbledon but with a disciplined approach.

Despite this Magpies remain in 4th place having had a good season so far and will want to make sure they hold on to this position for the final two League games of the season. This was helped last week by Cambridge City losing at home to Hampstead and Westminster and St Albans drawing away at Chelmsford. Magpies play St Albans at home in their final match of the season.

This week both Annie Nunn and Lauren Mickleburgh remain out injured as well as Rose Winter, Anna Tighe and Lauren Rowe being unavailable.

This means League debuts for both Martha Lawrence and Alice Woollatt.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Maria Andrews, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting, Bryony Lund, Abby Gooderham, Martha Lawrence and Alice Woollatt.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are at home this Saturday against League leaders Wimbledon HC starting at 2.00pm. Last week Magpies lost 2-1 away against

Cambridge City after having taken an early lead through Maria Andrews. This was a disappointing result and although Magpies played well in periods it was not enough to get a result on the day. Having drawn 2-2 away the previous week at Southgate Magpies have now slipped down to 4th place.

This week Harleston need to get back on track at home where they have a good record this season, but they will be coming up against the League leaders Wimbledon who have won 13 matches and lost only two all season. However they did surprisingly lose 2-0 away at Cambridge two weeks ago.

Wimbledon have 39 points with second placed Sevenoaks still on their heels with 36 points with just three matches left to play. There are two familiar names on the Wimbledon team sheet namely Cherry Seaborn and Lizzie Jones, who both spent many years at Magpies before moving away. Magpies will be very pleased to see them and will hopefully give them a warm welcome!

At the moment Magpies are in 4th place on 30 points just one point behind Hampstead and Westminster and six points clear of 5th placed Cambridge City and St Albans. Magpies have a tough run in to the end of the season with Wimbledon at home, Sevenoaks away and St Albans at home on the last day of the season.

After the match three of the Magpies team namely Debbie Francis, Charlotte Harrison and Louisa Greenacre will be on their way to Gatwick to catch an early morning flight to Jersey to play in the next round of the over 35’s Cup. Rose Winter Captain of the U16 team will be on her way to Stourport to play in the Regional Finals.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Rose Winter, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Maria Andrews, Lauren Rowe, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting and Bryony Lund. Abby Gooderham is unavailable and Annie Nunn is still injured.

Harleston Magpies Ladies Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents are away this Saturday against Cambridge City HC starting at 12.30pm. Last week Magpies drew 2-2 away against Southgate in a tough physical match. Magpies twice took the lead through Maria Andrews and Abby Gooderham, but each time Southgate equalised disappointingly in the 35th minute and 66th minute. From that situation Magpies would have hoped to see out time in each half.

Cambridge City had a busy weekend drawing 1-1 away at St Albans on the Saturday. On the Sunday they had a rearranged game against League leaders Wimbledon. Wimbledon are the current favourites to win the League, but Cambridge beat them 2-0 at home to record an impressive win. Surprisingly second placed Sevenoaks also slipped up on a rearranged League game when they lost 2-1 away to St Albans.

Magpies will be looking to get back to winning ways again this weekend, but the Wimbledon result shows that this is going to be another challenging match. At the moment Magpies remain in 3rd place with 30 points, just three points behind second placed Sevenoaks. Cambridge City are 5th with 21 points.

Lucy Whiting returns to the squad.

SQUAD: Lucy Belsey (Capt), Lauren Barber, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Katherine Ridley, Rose Winter, Charlotte Peet, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Lauren Mickleburgh, Abby Gooderham, Maria Andrews, Lauren Rowe, Charlotte Harrison, Lucy Whiting and Bryony Lund.
