WEEKEND PREVIEW

HARLESTON MAGPIES WEEKEND PREVIEW
6 October 2007

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Kitchen Sense of Harleston play Loughborough Students at home on Saturday starting at 12.30 in their English League Division I game. Magpies can take a number of positives from their game away at Doncaster last week, as for large parts of the game they matched their opponents in most departments. Concentration for 70 minutes with a young team is something the players will have to learn very quickly as they compete against older and more experienced players. In the end that was the difference between the two teams.

Jess Hull in midfield has shown that she can make the step up to National League hockey, whilst Lucy Miller at right defender looks very solid. Artemis Clark on penalty corner strikes has looked more threatening each week and at times can be a real attacking force from right midfield. The youngest player in the team Cherry Seaborn has been great playing up front.

Loughborough Students as always will be tough opponent as they have more time together to prepare during the week and are able to recruit quality players. Magpies will be looking to continue the progress they made last week and will continue with a very positive attitude.

Squad from: Louisa Greenacre (capt), Lucy Hayman, Ellie Blake, Lucy Miller, Debbie McAllen, Jess Hull, Artemis Clark, Helen Brook, Amelia Thomson, Katrina Warnes, Sarah Cave, Laura Parker, Cherry Seaborn, Kathryn Hinsley and Angie Wheelhouse.

HARLESTON MAGPIES WEEKEND PREVIEW
29 September 2007

Harleston Magpies Ladies sponsored by Kitchen Sense of Harleston play Doncaster away at 12.00 in their English League Division I game. This young and inexperienced Magpies side will have to adapt as fast as they can to the lessons learnt in last weeks heavy defeat to a quality Sunderland team and the management will be looking for a week by week improvement. Judging by the results last week it could be that Doncaster are also in a similar stage of transition to Magpies. Doncaster were relegated from the Premier Division last season and they may well have lost players or seen retirements.

“It was always going to be a difficult season” says Manager Nick McAllen “as any Club would struggle to respond to the loss of eight players at one time, but the squad are working hard and we will continue to have a positive approach as many of the players are taking a massive step up compared with the level they were playing last season.”

Squad from: Louisa Greenacre (capt), Lucy Hayman, Helen Brook, Ellie Blake, Debbie McAllen, Artemis Clark, Jess Hull, Laura Parker, Katrina Warnes, Amelia Thomson, Amy Tuffs, Cherry Seaborn, Kathryn Hinsley and Angie Wheelhouse.
