Magpies May Day Hockey Festival 2009

Dear Magpie

Our May Day Weekend Hockey Festival is fast approaching – this year to be played on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May 2009.

Kirstin is already drumming up trade, kitchen helpers, umpires and numerous other support staff but the big thing we really need are teams.

The tournament can accommodate 72 teams over the weekend so don’t miss your chance to enter a team or be part of one and if you do have friends at other hockey clubs or schools please encourage them to get involved.

Team entry forms are available from the club notice board, or via the links at the top of this page.

This is the 21st year we will be holding our festival weekend and I would like to see as many club faces old and new at the event.

For those who have not attended before our event is a little different, with a different competition each day of the weekend giving everyone a chance of a game. This year the running order is:

Saturday 2nd May Open Mixed Challenge

Sunday 3rd May Veterans Mixed Challenge

Monday 4th May Ladies and Mens Club XI Tournament

By next weekend (21st March) there will also be a signing up board in the clubhouse if you are free to play and not currently in a team – please sign up and we will find you a club team to be part of. Alternatively if you are not near the clubhouse over the next few weeks email me on tournament@magpies-hockey.co.uk.

Thanks

James Smith

Bourne Hockey Tournament

Dear all,

Bourne Hockey Club are holding their annual 7-a-side mens and ladies tournament on 30 and 31 August at Stamford High School astroturf pitch, Stamford, Lincs.

The ladies tournament will be held on Saturday 30 August and the mens tournament will be held on Sunday 31 August.

Team entry
Each day will consist of league games with the top teams qualifying to compete for the Cup and overall winners of the tournament with the remaining teams competing for the Plate.

Teams can be made up of a maximum squad of 10 players, with 7 players on the pitch at any one time.
(Each team will be required to provide an umpire who does not have to be qualified but competent to umpire at an appropriate level).

Team entry is £50 per team, which should be paid prior to attending the tournament.

If you are interested in entering a team(s) of either ladies, men or teams on both days, we would be grateful if you could reply by return email no later than 27th June and we will forward further details of where to send your entry fee, directions to the pitch and full tournament rules to you.

We will also be venturing out for a night out in Stamford on the Saturday night, if you need details of where to go and places to stay over, please let me know and I can include these details and suggestions with the above.

We had a fantastic tournament last year and are looking forward to an even better one this year. We really hope you enter a team and enjoy the weekend with us.

There will be a full range of refreshments, a bbq and stalls for you to buy from to keep you fed and watered during the weekend.

Regular updates regarding the tournament will be posted on our website at www.bournehockeyclub.co.uk. Should you have any questions regarding the tournament or any other aspect of Bourne Hockey Club, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help.

We look forward to hearing from you

Kind regards

HARLESTON MAGPIES HOCKEY CLUB
20th MAY DAY WEEKEND HOCKEY FESTIVAL
3rd, 4th and 5th of May 2008

On behalf of Harleston Magpies I would like to invite you to participate in our annual May Day Hockey Festival to be played over the weekend of the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May 2008.

Back in 1989 we hosted our first ever May Day Weekend Hockey Festival with teams from Bishop Stortford, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge City, Christchurch, Colchester, Dereham, Felixstowe, Halesworth, Ipswich, Long Sutton, Norfolk Wanderers, Norwich, Norwich Exiles, Norwich Grasshoppers, Norwich Union, Pelicans, Wisbech, and Vagabonds.

Over the last 19 years the mix of teams may have changed, champions may have come and gone but some of the players are definitely still the same!

In 1989 winning teams came from Norwich Grasshoppers, Cambridge City, Bury St Edmunds, Colchester and Harleston Magpies whilst last year the successful few were Norwich City, Dereham, Sudbury, Harleston Magpies, Beccles, Dissappointments and Trent Old Gits. Who will be successful in our anniversary year?

I hope like me, you are continuing to enjoy the festival and will join us again for our 20th Anniversary – this year to be played over the weekend of the 3rd, 4th 5th May 2008 and I look forward to receiving your entry forms.

New faces are always welcome and I would encourage all those who have attended in the past or would like to do so for the first time to have a go and help the tournament thrive. Don’t be shy, enter a team in any of the categories below and enjoy a day’s hockey away from the rigours and pressures of league.
