GIRLS DEVELOPMENT TEAM REPORT 13TH OCTOBER 2018

Girls Development v Dragons Development W 8-2

There was a helter-skelter start to the development game away to dragons with three goals in quick succession. Magpies scored first, very much against the run of play, as Evie B took advantage of a break-away chance.  Then Dragon’s pressure was instantly rewarded with an equaliser before Ellie B pounced to put in a rebound after the home keeper saved well from Evie B.  Spectators were able to draw breath as the game settled down, and Magpies circulated subs on and off the bench as girls development again fielded a full squad of fifteen.
Magpies dominance down the right channel created chances.  Kate F put Elle B through and she did well, sprinting ahead of the defenders, rounding the keeper to put Magpies ahead three to one at the end of the first quarter.  After the break, again from the right, an accurate cross from Jessica S was put away by Evie B although the umpire indicated the award of a Magpies short corner rather than playing the advantage which led to some head scratching. Dragons kept themselves in it with a well-placed flick which glanced in off of the outstretched hand of  Georgia F in goal.
Mapgies then dominated the second half with a combination of crisp passing and clinical finishing (my notes indicate that there were Oooos and Ahhhhs from the travelling support!!).  Ellie B got her third with a nonchalant back-hand scoop past the on rushing keeper after being played in by Loulou F. Amy Hunt then scored three in succession, ending high quality flowing moves with a variety of tricks including a sublime lob.
