HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES 1st TEAM AGAINST WIMBLEDON
Harleston Magpies Ladies sadly ended this half of the season on a loss to Wimbledon. After magpies long journey down to Wimbledon they tried to focus their attention on pressing hard in the first 5 minutes. Unfortunately Emma Lee-Smith was sent off twice in the first 5 to 10 minutes leaving Magpies down to ten people for a short time. Wimbledon built up momentum and attacking play causing pressure on the Magpies midfield and defence but they held strong, with Charlotte Lee-Smith making some great saves. As Wimbledon pushed more of their players forward the Magpies defence finally broke and Wimbledon took the lead. Continuing this momentum Wimbledon shortly put in another goal causing Magpies to go in to half time two nil down.
Magpies regained composure in the second half and played how they know they can. They regained and kept most of the possession, creating chances from short corners and in open play. However, Wimbledon’s defence held strong and a goal would not go in for Magpies. The ladies kept their heads up and never gave up on getting a goal back but unfortunately the luck did not run their way and the end whistle blew making it a two nil loss for Magpies. The ladies now go in to the indoor season and hopefully will do as well as they did last year.
