Harleston Magpies Ladies 6th match report.
Our home match against Herlings got off to a bad start with our goalkeeper running onto the pitch at the last minute! Herlings scored fairly quickly and as they are a tough team with experienced players, we knew that our work was cut out. A shouting match ensued with accusations flying, but once we settled down, play was fairly evenly spread. Herlings scored a second goal and we were just beginning to panic when Katie Webb smashed the ball home from a short corner.
During the second half, our defence stuck to Herlings’ forward players like glue and put in a sterling effort, especially as they had a worrying amount of short corners. Vanessa Vigrass scored our second goal at close range after some great passing tactics within the D. We could sense Herling’s fury and one of our youngest players took a head injury when the ball rebounded upwards from her stick. She went into shock and was carried from the pitch. With just three minutes to go and three short corners in a row for Herlings, it was gripping stuff, but we managed to keep the score as a 2-2 draw.
Score: 2 – 2
