Harleston Magpies Ladies I Weekend Preview

HARLESTON MAGPIES LADIES WEEKEND PREVIEW

Harleston Magpies Ladies have had a steady pre season build up which started over the August Bank holiday weekend with matches against National League sides Beeston and Bradford City from the North Conference drawing the first game with Beeston 1-1 and beating Bradford 2-1.The following week a trip to Hounslow who have always been difficult to beat away and a 1-1 draw was a creditable performance.

Last weekend at the Plum Tournament saw a draw with Sutton Coldfield 1-1 and a 1-0 win against Southampton. Throughout these matches Magpies have given experience to a number of young players. All the matches have been against National League teams except Southampton so hopefully the preparation will be at the required level.

Last season Magpies finished 5th five points behind the second placed team having a strong second half to the season. Having lost Charllotte Harrison from last season and gained Gemma Jones Magpies have a settled squad. Although not the biggest squad it has plenty of quality with a blend of youth and experience. Last season Magpies had a poor first half to the season so they will be looking to continue from where they left off last March.

The Ladies start their 11th successive season in the National League with a tricky away fixture at Sevenoaks starting at 2.30pm.

SQUAD FROM: Louisa Greenacre (Capt), Lucy Hayman, Calianne Clark, Katrina Warnes, Bryony Lund, Lucy Fields, Debbie McAllen, Frances Sumner, Ellie Bale, Cherry Seaborn, Helen Brook, Anna Toulson, Artemis Clark, Gemma Jones and Angie Wheelhouse.
