Cambridge City U16 Girls 0 Harleston Magpies U16 Girls 10
Harleston Magpies U16s qualified for the Regional Finals in impressive style as they completely out played the home team in a ruthless manner. Magpies were unrecognisable from previous matches as for the first time they combined their many individual talents to look like a team that were worked really hard for each other. It was also pleasing to see that the defence looked much more solid than in previous matches.
Cambridge struggled to get the ball out of their own half as Magpies pressed them all over the pitch and it was only a matter of time before the goals started to flow. Alice Hopgood opened the scoring after 8 minutes followed by Abby Gooderham, Lauren Rowe, Tor Findlay, Anna Tighe and Alice Hopgood to give Magpies a 6-0 lead at half time. It is never easy to maintain that level of tempo in the second half but they came close to it as further goals followed from Anna Tighe, Tor Findlay, Lauren Rowe and Alice Hopgood completed her hatrick. Even when Magpies were temporarily reduced to ten players they dealt with the first bit of pressure from Cambridge.
Magpies have no further matches to play in the Championship group as Bury St Edmunds have withdrawn. The Regional Finals will take place on Sunday March 1st.
