HMHC – Youth Development Officer – Nick McAllen

Harleston Magpies – Youth Development Officer

This is to let you know that Nick McAllen has decided after 27 years to step down as Girls Youth Development Officer at the end of the season. For many years he held the Boys Development post as well. The Club is indebted to Nick for the long hours that he is put in, both in coaching and administering the Youth Section of the Club. There is no doubt that much of the Club’s success at both Junior and Senior level has been built on the firm foundations that Nick has been responsible for building. This is true for both teams who have achieved success at National level, and individuals, some of whom have achieved International honours – or who just now enjoy an afternoon of hockey! Nick’s outstanding long service was recognised by the presentation of the Rushworth Ward Trophy at the Club’s 2015/2016 Awards evening. Our best wishes go to Nick, Shirley and their family who will no doubt continue to contribute to the Club in the future.

We are grateful that Nick has indicated that he wishes to carry on as part of the coaching team and will be available to support those who take over the baton from him. To this end a job description for a Youth Development Officer or Officers will be available on the website shortly. If you want to discuss the role or contribute (even in a partial capacity) please make contact with myself or Nick.
