Ladies 2nd Team Match Report 14th October 2017

Ladies 2nd Team vs Watton (Away (L) W 4-1)

Magpies started the match by breaking down an initial attack from the outset then began playing the ball around and creating several attacks down both wings.  The pressure was on Wattons defence as several crosses and passes were shooting by the keeper without a magpie stick being able to open the score line.  After much persistence and a great bit of set play involving Burrell, Stott and then Tibbenham; Magpies opened the score line with a great finish by Laura beating the keeper at the far post.  It wasn’t long before another fast break from Magpies defence through to midfield and onto the stick of Stott to set up Tibbenham for her 2nd goal, once again beating the keeper with a perfectly placed slap at goal.  After various attacks from both sides and some end to end action the whistle blew for half time at 2:0 Magpies.

Watton came out fighting from the start of the second half with a few fast breaks but were unsuccessful with the Magpies defence being bossed by Johnson and keeper Daly making some great saves.  Magpies conceded a penalty corner which was converted into Wattons first and only goal of the game.  Magpies came back strong with more attacks and pressure resulting in a penalty corner which was slotted home by Woollatt.  The fourth and final goal came from a fast break involving Stott picking up a stray ball and beating the defender allowing a well-positioned Tibbenham to slot the ball behind the keeper for the hattrick.
