Ladies 4th v UEA 2 home L 3-5
Magpies had a bit of a slow start to the season and after the first five minutes or so we were 1-0 down against UEA 2’s. After some hard work and determination the score came to 1-1 with Alice Evans-Hendrick’s goal. Then with a penalty corner Ellen Pope score was disallowed as the umpire had blown for another penalty corner before the goal. But that didn’t stop us, as soon after, forward-Keira Wheeler scored making it 2-1 to us at half time.Second half did not go so well for us, we all played well but didn’t grab all our chances but they took their chances well. We won a few more short corners but could not seem to convert to goals with the exception of when we managed to win a stroke and Ellen buried it into the bottom left corner.
The game finished 5-3 but our team spirit for even when the score was against us was high as we were still trying and didn’t let it get us down. The score didn’t bely play, and there was a positive feel for the start of a new season.
Thank you to Richard Stacey and Jose Tibbenham for being our manager and coach on the bench.
Sophie Matsell won player of the match deservedly. Well played
