Ladies 4ths 0-3 Norwich City 3rds
With the speedy Maynell Anderson’s abandoning us for the Thirds this week we were slightly concerned with the lack of forwards in our squad. Thankfully we were joined by Rachel Clifford, and Emily Evans took her place upfront after impressing last week.
We started well and almost looked like we knew what we were doing at times. The makeshift forwards were pressing the City defence right back into their 25 and we had most of the possession in the first half. Sadly, on the break we conceded a short corner which was slotted in past Jessica Harvey’s right foot as Rosie Blackmore had wandered off her post.
We continued to create chances. In midfield Rachel Goodson and Phoebe Eglington did some lovely runs down the wings and Helena Knock, Nicole Eaves, Sophie Baxter and Harriet Celerier tackled well and passed the ball between themselves nicely.
Despite our attempts on goal and a few attacking short corners that didn’t quite find the net, City never laid off and Krystal Jenkins, Treacle and Rosie Blackmore were kept busy protecting the Magpies ‘D’. Jessica Harvey is gaining confidence each week and kept us out of trouble a few times by running out to close down the attackers which allowed us slow coaches a chance to catch up with who we were supposed to be marking.
City got another goal before full time to make extra sure they took all three points back to Norwich.
