Magpies Ladies 6th 7 – 0 Loddon 3rds
Another break in league fixtures saw the ladies 6th entertain Loddon 3s in a friendly at home this Saturday.
Loddon started with only 10 players and put on a brave show to start with but the so far undefeated ladies 6ths soon broke down their defense early on with some brilliant passing movements resulting in debutant Sophie Matsell to slot the ball past the ‘keeper for Magpies first goal. Magpies then quickly made this 2-0 with a long awaited first goal of the season Clemmy Ardley-Forder.
Loddon put up a good fight but with one player less they found it a great struggle against this Magpies side who were full of confidence, and another 2 goals in quick succession from first a great effort from Emma Lacey which was tapped in by Clemmy and the second from determined Lisa Kent saw Magpies go in to the break 4-0 up. It could have been one more before half time had Jo Mayer’s goal not been disallowed.
During the break in a true sporting gesture Magpies donated Rosie Blackmore to the Loddon side in order make up the numbers. As the second half got under way Loddon found themselves in the game a bit more making a couple of surges up the field but to no avail as on the break Magpie got another goal this time captain Katie Webb finding the backboard. Another two goals in the second half from Clemmy and Katie saw the final score end up 7-0.
A great performance from the whole team and credit must go to stand in goalie (who never actually had to touch the ball) Frances Fulcher.
Player of the Match – Sophie Matsell.
6ths are back in league action next week away to Herlings, lets hope we can continue our unbeaten record!!
