Magpies 6s took on Norwich City determined to play well from the first whistle. From push back we pressed aggressively and the midfield of Flea Perry, Georgina Scott, Judith Masters and Hollie Morris were forcing the Norwich to play deep into their half. Forwards Rach Clifford, Janna Freeman and Laura Woodgate made sure they nipped in front of their defenders to create space and ensure we heaped pressure on the attacking D. The City keeper was in fine form making a string of great saves. Eventually Laura Woodgate found herself in good space to receive a cross into the D and deflect the ball into the goal. With several subs; Magpies captain changed things up a little second half, giving players a chance to test out their skills across the pitch. Kristina Brinkley dropped into defence, combining well with Jane Collins to to feed the ball down the wing to keep the City side under pressure. Rach Clifford opened the barrage of second half goals for Magpies as mazed her way through the D to score two good goals. Defenders Marie Davy, Heather Brand, Liv Carter and Imogen Flatt kept their concentration clearing the rare City ventures into our D with calm precision. Two more goals completed the scoring, another good strike from Rach and a determined poach at the left post by Laura Woodgate. The game finished 5:0 to Magpies, a solid performance which Magpies will hope to take into their tough home fixture next week against Loddon. Player of the match: Georgina Scott.
