LADIES 7TH TEAM REPORT 11TH NOVEMBER 2017

Ladies 7th Team v Watton 3rds (Home (L) W 2-1)

Our late afternoon match started with cheers from the few spectators braving the cold. Watton took the pushback but we soon gained possession and raced with the ball towards their goal. However, the Watton defenders managed to thwart our efforts and in some ways were a strong team; well, they had more short corners than us. During one of our breaks to the Watton half, Shirley McAllen struck the ball into the Watton circle and Georgia Hood was in the right place to smash the ball home.

The second half saw Watton take more control with many attempts at goal but goalkeeper Katy Davy played brilliantly as did Karen Hunt, Sandra Ellinor and Daphne Beckett in defence. Despite our defenders’ valiant efforts, Watton did score. The pitch became darker despite the floodlights and the temperature colder but literally four minutes before the end, Ebony Hoskin scored our winning goal right on the goal-line. We just managed to keep Watton from scoring again.
