It was a chilly but bright start to our early morning home game against Carrow, and the Ladies 7ths were in confident mood after last weeks win. Carrow started strongly, and clearly had some talented players on their team with pace and stick skills, but after a hectic seven minutes or so, Shirley McAllen quickly put us on the score sheet, slipping the ball in past their keeper. After that, Magpies surged forward and had loads of chances in the D, culminating with a lovely goal from our speedy and talented right wing, Georgia Hood. After half time, we were impressed by Carrows commitment to stay in the game, and Imogen Flatt as keeper was kept busy for a few minutes, supported by Karen Hunt, Liv and Daphne Beckett in our strong defence. But the Magpies ladies were determined to score a few more, and with some lovely passing in the mid field manged well by centre mid Abi Wallis, we managed to secure a short corner. Bex Pottruff sent it in to Shirley who scored again with a heartening crack against the back board. We finished the game with a final goal off the post from young Ellie who had been standing by to do just that all through the match! Chy, Mollie and Laura all played confidently too. Great to have twelve for the last match of this calendar year, and we celebrated our 4-nil victory with mulled wine and crackers for a festive feel.
