Ladies 4th v Norwich Dragons 8 (Away (L) W 1-0)

With an early start in Norwich and the torrential rain holding off, we fielded just ten players against Norwich Dragons. They flew with the ball down to our goal but Peg Bridges, the goalkeeper, kicked the ball skywards and saved the day. Play seemed to be fairly even until young Laura received the ball right on the Dragons goal-line and smashed it in; sadly, it hit her foot first. Next, Shirley McAllen ran with the ball up the right wing, calmly took the ball just inside the circle and with a resounding strike sent the ball home.
During the second half, we were keenly aware that we needed to play defensively to keep the score at 1 – 0. Karen Hunt played a blinder when she stopped the ball dead on our goal-line. Skipper, Karen Ray played her last match of the season before heading off on her travels and what a great match it was.
