 PITCHES
Over the last two years the Club has spent a
considerable amount of money on maintenance on the two
pitches to extend their playing lives.
We have already gone past the “sell by date” of the water based pitch, but have been advised with care we might get another
two or three years out of it.
It is very apparent that the main areas of wear are the circles (especially the top) nearest the clubhouse.
so PLEASE DO NOT use these areas for training
unless absolutely necessary.
The cost of replacing the carpet on the water pitch will be nearly £200,000.00 and the sand when the time comes will be a lot
more as the shock pad will have to be replaced as well.

YOUNG LEADERS WORKSHOP

Half term is nearly upon us and this year we wanted to provided something a little different for our youngsters to experience.
The Club have booked England Hockey to run a Young Leaders course at Magpies for all those aged 13 to 16.  The aim of the course to give all those who attend the confidence to lead, umpire and coach, be effective in these roles and have a better understanding of the different roles in a club and how you can progress your hockey careers in whatever direction this may be.
I am confident that the skills you will learn will be useful in your futures whether this be in school teams, university hockey clubs and here at Magpies or other clubs if you leave the Nest.
For those of you who have not been on an England Hockey course before – don’t worry this isn’t a day in a classroom.  The majorty of the day will be on the pitch learning the key objectives by particiating in coaching exercises etc.  Lots of fun, lots of participation and I am sure will be very valuable to you all in the future and your CVs.
And did I say….there is no cost!
So please get in touch and confirm a place on the course before we open this up to a wider audience.  Email James at hockeycamps@magpies-hockey.co.uk
