Magpies Ladies Weekend Preview

Harleston magpies ladies sponsored by Kilbourns.co.uk play Sevenoaks away from home this Saturday at 1-30.

Last weekend Magpies faced bottom of the league Horsham who were looking to secure their fourth win of the season to help move them off the bottom of the league table. Magpies started the game as they would have hoped and after three minutes Magpies took the lead after a finish from Lucy Whiting in front of goal. The game continued to be end to end and Magpies were not playing the hockey as they had been in previous weeks. In the second half, Magpies did have a chance to push their lead further ahead when a short corner deflection from Lizzie Clymer was stopped on the line by a Horsham body. Unfortunately Emma Lee-Smith’s flick was saved by the goalkeeper. Magpies were kept in the game by important saves by Charlotte Lee-Smith and held out for a 1-0 win. Magpies know that they need to improve their performance for their away fixture at Sevenoaks this weekend if they want to finish the season as they deserve.

Sevenoaks played Chelmsford at home last weekend. Sevenoaks took the lead after 29 minutes through an open play goal. Sevenoaks were unable to put away a second goal but Chelmsford were unable to find the equaliser. However the week before that Sevenoaks lost to St. Albans 2-1 away from home that stopped their positive run from the Christmas break.

Magpies played Sevenoaks in the first half of the season at the nest. Magpies took the lead after seventeen minutes from an open play goal from Angie Wheelhouse And went in to the break 1-0 up. However Sevenoaks came out hard after the break and scored their equaliser after 44 minutes from a penalty corner. This knocked Magpies and five minutes later they scored their second. Magpies were unable to battle back and score an equaliser and this recorded there first home loss of the season. Magpies will be looking to fight back and push for second place in the league.
