Magpies Widen the Gap
Magpies widened the gap between themselves and bottom of the table Chelmsford with a fine home win at the weekend. After an early setback when the visitors scored from a corner Magpies dug in and gradually wore Chelmsford down, building up a 3-1 lead before conceding a goal in the closing minutes. This was a good team performance with the whole squad playing a part. Whilst the experienced players provided stability during difficult periods it was the young players who took the eye. Craig Snelling deputised for Stuart Leate during a period of injury, up front Simon Hipwell, Ben Wright and Duncan Graves worked well showing some fine touches. Man of the match Gareth Furlong defended well and put on a fine display going forwards.
This weekend Magpies visit Bromley and Beckenham who lost to Indian Gymnkhana on Sunday . The Kent side need the points to stop them getting dragged into a relegation fight . A win for Magpies would open up an eight point gap from Bromley who could slip into a play off position. Mark Wheelhouse returns to the squad at the exclusion of Snelling, Neil Toulson is unavailable and Richard Ling takes his place.
