Blueharts 1s 2-2 Harleston 1s
Harleston travelled down to Hitchin this weekend for a tough game against third place Blueharts. The teams started evenly with chances few and far between. Harleston struggled to maintian possession against a Blueharts side that closed them down early. Harleston deservedly took the lead through inform Andy Hipwell slotting home a through ball with a first time shot which took the keeper by surprise. Blueharts struck back quickly when the ball was given away by Harleston which allowed Blueharts to hit them on the break and John Barrett slotted home for Blueharts. The teams then both started to push for the breakthorugh they were after. Harleston eventually found the breakthrough when David Ling played a ball into the path of Cloin Wheelhouse who drew a defender before playing the ball across to Tristan Baynes to slot home from close range. The teams went in at half time with the scores at 2-1.
The second half started similar to the first with possession by both teams given away cheaply. Blueharts were twice reduced to 10 men however this seemed to spur them on more and once they were back to 11 players they equalised with a good deflection at the near post. With time running out Harleston pushed forward in search of the vital winner. On the stroke of time Harleston won a short corner which was put on a foot and with the following corner Harleston won a penalty stroke. Unfortuanelty the stroke was not converted and the game finished with a draw.
