Magpies 2nds 2-2 Brentwood 1sts

Magpies went into this fixture wanting to improve on
the draw that they achieved in Brentwood in order to
improve their chances of catching up Cambridge nomads.

The game was played at a high tempo right from the
start of the game, both sides wanting to assume
control of the game. Brentwood were to score first,
capitalising on scrappy defending to put the ball past
Mark Lewis in goal. The home team were not be to
outdone though. Before half time Gavin Cole struck a
superb equaliser from the edge of the circle, going
into half time magpies had restored faith with the
scoreline at 1-1.

The second half proved to be a more heated affair.
With frustration building as players disagreed with
some umpiring decisions. However it was magpies who
were to capitalise on this situation. good pressure
led to Dan Stasin scoring with a very powerful reverse
stick shot. Brentwood were determined to score an
equaliser, and towards the end of the game won their
only short corner of the half. This unfortunately for
the home side led to a penalty stroke. The stroke was
converted, leaving magpies with very little
opportunity to regain the lead.

A disappointing couple of weeks has seen magpies pick
up one point from a possible six and improvement next
week away to Cambridge City is a must. However with
Nomads losing to Crostyx anything is possible in the
race for promotion.
