U10 and U12 Teams at Dragons Tournament
Magpies U10s and U12s boys and girls teams got their first taste of tournament hockey at Norwich Dragons this Sunday 7 October. With 28 teams from across Norfolk taking part over the day, everyone had a chance to play several games and get in some early season competition practice in.
Magpies fielded a bumper crop of youngsters with no less than five girl’s teams and three boy’s teams. Every team enjoyed their hockey and loved getting the chance to play some real matches after a month of hard work training at Harleston Magpies Hockey Club in South Norfolk.
Magpies Girls U10 and U12 teams took to the pitches first. With many new faces, it was a day to test their strength and try out line ups, and for the coaches to assess the best way to approach team training session in the coming weeks.
At U10 level, both teams finished fourth in their respective tournaments the U12C team also secured fourth place with the U12A team going one better finishing third against some strong opposition. The U12 girls B team finishes second with the best result of the day for a Magpies girls.
The afternoon found Magpies boys back in action. The U10 boys team found themselves in the gold tournament with some challenging draws, and finished fourth overall. However the U12 boys really showed their potential with the B team finishing as runners up and the A team, although finishing fifth, dominated a number of their matches and could have finished much higher up the pecking order with a little more composure in front of goal.

Our girls and boys impressed across the teams and really enjoyed their matches, which is so important at this age. Many thanks to Norwich Dragons for hosting a great tournament. ”
