U12B Girls match report from Tournament at St Josephs on Sunday 22nd October
The U12B girls had a very enjoyable and successful tournament, showing continued improvement from the tournament they played in a couple of weeks ago.
We fielded a very young side, with all the girls being under 11 years old with just one exception. This however did not hold our girls back; they worked hard, displaying good stick skills, passing the ball well and making good use of the width of the pitch.Lily-Ann made some fine saves in goal along with Ellie, Isabelle and Dulcie in defence who put in some great tackles and were much more involved in play when we were on the attack. Emily, Grace and Jess worked tirelessly down the wings, dodging defenders and putting in some great crosses into the D for Florence to connect onto. Alex worked hard in the middle and distributed the ball well.We played 4 matches, starting off against our C team which was played in great spirit and it was clear to see how much all the girls have improved over the last few weeks. Training with David is really making a difference! Score 2-0 to the B team (Florence & Emily). We then took on IES who we knew were going to be tough opposition. Again the girls played well as a team and were unlucky to go down 1-0. St Josephs were next who came out very strong and we found ourselves down 1-0. However, the girls fought back well and two goals followed (Florence) for us to secure the win. In last game against Felixstowe, we had a convincing 4-0 win (Florence). We used this match to move players into different positions and it was interesting to see how well some of them played, particularly Isabelle on the wing and Dulcie in midfield. Overall, the team came 2nd. A great team effort and I’m sure the girls will be looking forward to the next tournament which is at Magpies on 12th November.
Many thanks to James for his input with team talks and for all the umpiring!
