U10 BOYS AT WATTON

OH SO CLOSE FOR THE U10 BOYS AT WATTON

What a fabulous afternoon for the U10 boys in the last tournament of the season at Watton only being denied top spot on the podium on goal difference having won two and drawn two in a pulsating afternoon’s entertainment.

First up were Dragons and in a tight contest our boys battled hard and were able to claim a deserved 1-0 victory with a debut goal for Alfred, cue ear to ear grin ! A mention for James in goal who pulled off a tremendous stick save that was almost behind him to keep us in the game.

Next was a funny old goalless draw against Pelicans where we couldn’t quite find a rhythm but a point is a point. Next up were Watton and the formation of the formidable defensive pairing of Nicholas and Monty who timed their tackles well and cleared the ball effectively. Finlay moved up to centre half and put in a good hearty effort and was rewarded with the winning goal for Magpies so it was all to play for in the crunch game against Norwich City who also had drawn one and won two games ! It proved to be a modern day classic with end to end stuff right from the off. WIlliam smashed in an early goal for Magpies only for them to be pegged back by a scrappy City goal, 1-1. The midfield was not for the faint hearted and Finlay, Freddy and George all got stuck in making crucial tackles at the right time. The ball went up the right with Billy making a trademark surge down the right channel and cooly slotted home to make it 2-1 to Magpies. Tick tock went the clock and with seconds to go oh no ! In goes a thunderbolt shot for City from the top of the D to level things up at 2-2 but what a game.

Great work from all the boys on the day who well deserved their runner up spot but it was oh so close !
