U12 event with Langley Schools
Harleston Magpies Hockey Club were delighted to be part of the Langley Schools open morning in Loddon on Saturday 29 September, sending 30 under 12 youngsters there for a coaching masterclass and some game play.
Harleston Magpies’ relationship continues to grow with Langley Schools sharing facilities, players and coaching staff whether possible. Langley Schools open morning is now a regular fixture in Magpies youth calendar giving all our youngsters the chance to dust off their hockey sticks and play some competitive yet friendly matches and get some extra coaching in.
Langley head of hockey and Magpies Youth coach Stuart Field said: ‘It was a fantastic start to the season for our under 12s, who all enjoyed a few games in the sunshine against Magpies. The partnership is going from strength to strength and continues to encourage school children to play club hockey as well as enabling both Langley and Magpies to share facilities, providing specialist coaching opportunities and a base at Langley for the hockey club to do indoor training’.
After an initial round of matches, all closely contested, the young Magpies tried their hand at a goal scoring master class led by the Langley Hockey coaching team. Magpies Youth Development Officer James Smith was delighted with the success of the event, saying: ‘Every year we have more and more youngsters who want to come and get involved – which is great. I am hoping this years’ focus on goal scoring for our under 12s will put us right back in the action at our first tournaments which start in October.’
Harleston Magpies youth hockey coaching is well underway now. The hockey club has capacity for more youth players across the age ranges from year 2 upwards. Get involved by emailing email@example.com.
