U12 GIRLS REPORTS – WATTON TOURNAMENT

STRONG FINISH TO THE SEASON AT WATTON FOR U12 GIRLS

A TEAM
With only the bare minimum of 7 players available, the A team tackled their last hurdle before their end of season highlight when they compete in the East In2 Hockey finals this weekend. The first game against a reinvigorated Dragons didn’t go to plan as we huffed and puffed and forgot how to play as we all know we can and a scrappy goal off a rebound was enough to give Dragons a deserved victory. From there on it was better news as we rediscovered our more expansive style and passed the ball around more fluidly and were more decisive in front of goal which was enough to bring 2-0, 3-1 and 3-0 victories against Dragons B, Watton and Norwich City which was good to see. A really good shift from all the girls and with no subs there is no rest or hiding place so well done.

We set ourselves high standards because we know that we are capable and we hope to see this in excess on Sunday ! COME ON YOU MAGPIES !

Squad :- Georgia, Alyssa, Ruby, Jessica, Holly, Molly & Evie

B Team
The Magpies B’s fielded a strong side for our last tournament of the season and started strongly with a 6-0 win over Norwich Dragons, goals from Sasha, Maddie (4) and Amy. Next up we faced Dereham and came away with a 1-0 win thanks to Maddie’s strike.

Ella was on top form against Pelicans and used her silky skills to bag 5 goals, with Grace Clarke adding the 6th. We finished the morning by playing Magpies C’s where we shared the goals around amongst Ella (2), Maddie, Evie and Sasha.

Katy made some great saves in goal and organised her defence well with Megan and Grace making some lovely tackles. Great work rate and attitude from all of the girls and an awesome way to end the season.

C Team
Our first game was against Pelicans who came out strong. But it didn’t take long for Magpies to get into the game, lovely passes coming into the D from Sofia and Hattie, passing the ball round and creating space. Unfortunately Pelicans got a short corner which they scored from, this resulted the first game finishing at 1-0 to Pelicans.
Our second game was against Norwich Dragons. This game we were quick on the ball, and this resulted in a good ball into the D from Sukey followed by a goal from Ellie. Not long after the first goal the same happened again, but this time the ball was put into the D by Kate and again found Ellie who scored her second goal. This game finished 2-0 to Magpies.

Our third game we lost against Magpies B’s, we knew it would be a hard game as they had already won two of their games 6-0! But that didn’t stop us, Ellie and Emma did well in defence, and we didn’t give up. Some brilliant hockey was played moving the ball wide and passing it down the line into space. Well done Magpies B’s!!
Last game of the day resulted in 0-0 against Dereham. Out of all the games we played during the tournament this game was the game we played our best hockey. Everyone was supporting each other, free hits were taken early and the ball was going out wide.
Brilliant team spirit from everyone, well done team!
