Girls U18 v Chelmsford W 7-0

Magpies U18’s girls finally played a game of hockey in this seasons England hockey National cup competition.  After Norwich City conceded and then Saffron Waldon did the same the girls travelled to play Chelmsford away.  We got off to the perfect start when a well taken short corner was confidently dispatched into the Chelmsford goal by Sophia Basset. Magpies were playing like the team who had played in every round, confidently passing the ball and looking solid in defence.  Just before half time a well rehearsed short corner was clinically scored by Emma Williamson making the half time score 0-2.
Coach Lauren Rowe set the team up for the 2nd half and it wasn’t long before Sophia Basset made it 0-3 following good work from Millie Preece. Magpies didn’t let up and Sophie Govier Schaay made it 0-4 . Lara Taylor then set off on a brilliant run down the right flank into the D and fired the ball past the Chelmsford keeper to make the score 0-5.  Sophia then completed her hat trick to make it 0-6 and Millie Preece rounded the scoring off the make the final score 0-7.
Magpies U18’s girls have now reached the quarter final in which we are playing Cambridge away on Sunday 24th February.
