Boys U18 v Saffron Walden (Away (EHC) W 4-1)

Harleston Magpies U18 won a tough encounter against Saffron Walden to progress to the quarter finals of England Hockeys National U18 Cup Competition.
Starting brightly Magpies scored within two minutes when a great break and then cross by Matt Bensly found Jake Sewell who score at the far post. They doubled their lead from a short corner after the initial shot was saved but Jolyon Summers picked up the rebound and calmly slotted home. Ben Watson then made it 3-0 with a strong run and reverse stick strike.
The second half was a more even affair with both sides creating chances and neither side really taking control of the game. Saffron Walden scored to reduce the arrears but the goal spurred Magpies on and it was no surprise when Ben Watson scored his second with another powerful strike. Magpies controlled the final minutes of the game to run out 4-1 winners.
Thanks to Saffron Walden for their hospitality and to the strong contingent of Magpies supporters who made the trip. Plus, a big thanks to James Smith for umpiring.
