The club is very grateful to Bungay & Waveney Golf Club and to the twenty three teams of four players (in Ladies, Gentlemen and Mixed sections) who helped to raise £1253 for club funds.
This was the club’s sixteenth annual golf day (all held at Bungay & WGC) and as in the past it raised a very considerable sum to help the work of the club while boosting the profile of the club in the local community.
The event comprised one round of golf with Stableford scoring (the best 3 out of 4 per hole to count playing off full handicaps) followed by lunch and presentations.
The winning teams were
Mixed (5 entries) – 1st LMB Services (122 points) including club vice-president Les Bicker; 2nd Hazbeens including George & Kay Hazell of Bury St Edmunds HC (107).
Ladies (4 entries) – 1st Happy Girls (116); 2nd Sprowston Ladies (112).
Gentlemen (14 entries) – 1st Tramps (121) including keen Magpies’ supporter Rob Holmes; 2nd Where, Where Is Nick Moss? (120, 64 on count back) with Phil Oldroyd and Magpies’ Pete Thornett and Andrew Bedwell and East umpire Jason Evans; 3rd It’s In the Genes (120) featuring Magpies’ Kevin & Thomas Ridley and John & Archie Winter with Archie contributing a remarkable 43 points (!) off a handicap of 5; 4th White Harters (119).
