ladies 1st Team v Horsham D 2-2

Harleston Magpies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents this week travelled to Horsham welcoming Katherine Ridley into the squad but unfortunately Lucy Whiting missed out again through injury.
Magpies started slowly and Horsham capitalised on that, winning several short corners. One of which they converted when Megan Brown initially saved the shot and Horsham were first to the rebound and flick it into the goal.
After this Magpies started to build into the game and gain some confidence in themselves, leading to some goal scoring opportunities. With some continued pressure Magpies finally broke down the Horsham defence when Emma Lee-Smith got hold of the ball and the shot came off a Horsham foot finding its way into the goal.
In the second half Magpies tried to keep up the intensity that they finished the first half with. They succeeded with this and keep the pressure on the Horsham defence who were defending solidly. Eventually Magpies managed to breakdown the Horsham defence once again when Lauren Rowe beat the keeper with a reverse stick shot.
Magpies continued to defend together as a team as Horsham stepped up the pressure to try and find the equaliser. Horsham pressure paid off when a forward received the ball at the top of the D and found another player waiting on the post to tuck the ball in the goal. Magpies tried to find a winner but could not find the final pass.
In the end a draw was a fair result for both teams and Magpies were pleased to take a point away from Horsham after the long journey. Next week the ladies welcome top of the table Hampstead and Westminster to the nest for their final game before the winter break. Squad: Lauren Barber (Capt), Megan Brown (GK), Katrina Sitch, Louisa Greenacre, Debbie Francis, Fran Burrell, Lara Taylor, Charlie Harrison, Lauren Rowe, Lizzie Clymer, Tor Findlay, Katherine Ridley, Emma Lee-Smith, Jess Bloom, Charley Seaman
