Ladies 1st v Sevenoaks 1 W2-1

Harleston Magpies sponsored by Musker McIntyre Estate Agents this week travelled to Sevenoaks knowing it would be a tough game with reduced numbers due to injuries. Sevenoaks started the game well and dominated play but solid defending gave them no opportunity to take the lead. Magpies won a short corner within the first ten minutes which was comfortably slotted home low and hard by Lauren Rowe. Within a few minutes Magpies won a second short corner which once again Lauren Rowe found the back of the net with an awesome drag flick.
Sevenoaks fought back winning short corners and a penalty stroke but still could not get on the scoreboard. Half-time saw Magpies 2-0 up.
Sevenoaks came out hard in the second half desperate to get back into the game but an amazing team effort held solid for a substantial amount of time soaking up pressure. Sevenoaks won several short corners, finally slotting one home with ten minutes remaining.  Lara Taylor made a brilliant run down the right, passing the ball across the circle for a deflection from Lauren Rowe which beat the goalkeeper and initially was given but then disallowed. Sadly not quite getting her hat-trick!  Sevenoaks then opted to go to a kicking back but Magpies stayed strong to secure another three points and send them to second in the league table.

Next week Magpies welcome local rivals Ipswich to Weybread.
