LADIES 3RDS – MATCH REPORT

Last week the revamped and extremely young (except me!) 3rd Team played Beccles 1st’s who turned up with only 9. This gave Magpies the opportunity to try people in different positions and for them to get to know each other. A great team effort saw the team score 8 and concede 1 for a fine first win which certainly boosted the confidence.

This week we travelled to Dereham to play their 3rd XI. On an extremely hot afternoon the team put in a great performance and won 2-0. Captain Julie Podd scored the first from a broken down short corner and Anna Lacey scored the second on the left post from a great cross on the right. The defence did not have much to do and conceded no short corners whilst the midfield and attack were tireless in pushing forward and creating many opportunities to score. The welcome return of Frances Taylor has strengthened the midfield and I am confident that the team will gel and continue to improve throughout the season as the team is full of young talent.

The 3rds play Taverham away at 10.00am on Saturday in their first league game.
