Womens 1s vs Barnes W1

Womens 1s Match Report 14.10.23

Magpies travelled to the depths of West London to play Barnes. The team got off to a rocky start with Barnes entering Magpies defending circle within the first few seconds. However, Magpies fought back with a fast counter attack making few passes to enter the Barnes circle and with good connection play between Felicity Williams and Niamh Campbell, Niamh was able to play a skilful deflection from the P spot to put the ball in the back of Barnes net putting Magpies on the front foot.

The second and third quarter saw the game to be a battle of technical skill with both sides winning multiple short corners but none being converted. Magpies kept composed, passing the ball very well and attacking hard when the opportunities arose.

The third quarter brought a bit of a stir to the Magpies side with Barnes scoring a goal from short range to take the score line to 1-1. Shortly after, Barnes capitalised on a strong outlet and attacking play, linking well to secure their second goal of the game. Magpies fought strongly back in the last five minutes almost scoring a back post tap in from a perfectly placed cross ball from Lou Lou Ford.

Unfortunately Magpies could not take any points from a strong Barnes side but after a very commendable performance the team are excited to show the same tenacity at their home game week.
