The women's fours had an eventful match away to Colchester 3s. Going two goals down in the first half before roaring back in the second to secure a draw. Missing out on all three points by the narrowest of margins.
Magpies had the better of the opening 10 minutes. Evie Kemp returning to the side proved a real menace for the Colchester midfield. With several half chances created but nothing quite running for the front three to get a clear shot on goal.
Against the run of play Colchester scored from their first real attack. A shot going in via an unfortunate deflection. The home side went a further goal up soon after as a speculative shot, through a forest of legs and sticks, went in past the unsighted keeper.
The half time team talk was a stern one but the team responded immediately with excellent work by the midfield, including player of the match Molly Denny, setting Darcy McDonough free to run into the D and slot home past the Colchester keeper. From here on it was one-way traffic with waves of Magpies attacks. The keeper made several excellent saves and many other shots went agonisingly wide. Holly Sutton was particularly unlucky that her excellent attacking play went unrewarded.
Magpies finally equalised through Mel Hopkins as she used some deft skill to lift the ball over the prone keeper and in. From here Colchester looked to have weathered the storm as Magpies were running on empty (only eleven players made the trip). They pressed for a winner of their own but Harriet Soper, back to her old energetic self in the middle of defence and Isabelle Potter saw them off to secure the draw.
