Womens 4s vs Bury St Edmunds W3

Match Report

Magpies arrived at Culford knowing that this was a crunch match in their chase for the title.

Both teams attacked from the start with fast moving action from end to end. However it was Magpies who were rewarded early on from some fine attacking play with Anastacia slotting in her first goal in the 8th minute.

Both teams continued to push hard, but magpies defence of Mel V, Evie, Harriet and Issy P worked hard, constantly tracking back to thwart any attempts before clearing the ball up to the forwards, Darcey, Annouska, Ana and Izzy W to counter- attack and put the Bury Defence under considerable pressure. Izzy W added her name to the score sheet with a fine reverse stick shot in the 22nd minute. Caitlan remained calm and confidently dealt with any shots on her goal.

Bury managed to break through the centre and scored shortly before half time.

After half time, Magpies continued to work hard, the midfield of Flo, Issy Parkin, Molly, Mel H and Vanessa intercepting counter attacks and supporting the forwards who pressed hard on the Bury defence. Bury however were not giving up and fought back with some fairly tense goal mouth action when Evie and Molly both cleared the ball in a goal line scramble.

Following a solo run on the 57th minute, Izzy W slipped the ball to Anastacia who found the back of the net for her second goal.

Bury continued to press hard, but Magpies held their cool, playing the ball around the pitch and shutting down any further attacks.

It would appear that later games suit the 4s!!

Player of the match Issy Potter.
