With half of Suffolk and Norfolk covered in floods, Magpies took various routes to get to Taverham. We started the match playing in yet more rain, but it wasn’t cold and young Verity Green was making her debut with us as goalkeeper…and she was excellent. Norwich City were clearly a strong team and were awarded a corner almost immediately. Our defenders were easily up to the task of clearing the ball from our circle. Alison Priest made some great tackles and worked tirelessly to send the ball to our forwards. Havana Karlson-Evans, player of the match, made some fine runs up the right wing yet City defence blocked our passes and scored a goal.
During the second half, we seemed to have more chances with short corners and shots on City’s goal. This was mainly due to Lily Smith and Zara Broadly making great runs and timely passes into City’s circle. The short corners were quick but didn’t strike home and shots on goal missed which was frustrating. Then, poor Ali Buck came off with a sore foot from a City short corner. City managed to score again and despite our best efforts, won the match.
