Womens 7s vs East Coast W2

This game at East Coast was a rescheduled match postponed a few weeks earlier. The slip date falling over half term, we had a much changed team and welcomed several young players to the Women's 7s team for their first or second game with us.

The game started fairly patchily on both sides, but with Magpies the more tentative and East Coast starting to find ways through to challenge our defenders. They won several short corners during this spell, which we successfully defended. Towards the end of the first half, an unfortunate back of stick in the D was penalised with a penalty stroke from which they scored. Great credit to goalie Megan who had kept the slate clean up to now and faced this challenge exceptionally calmly. By half time we knew the game was still within our reach with everything to play for.

During the second half, Magpies really turned up the pressure and began to make a greater impact on the game. Tiggy and Evie both had good chances, with Havana, Bethany, Holly and Lily supporting in the midfield and running forward resulting in several short corners won, but unluckily not converted. Meanwhile, the more experienced East Coast team began to change their game plan and take advantage of free space in the field. This resulted in a second quickfire goal. Despite many promising responses from Magpies in attack, East Coast got through again and scored to make it three. Our defenders, particularly Rosie and player of the match Ciara, playing under constant pressure, worked really hard to contain the continual attacks from Lowestoft but towards the end of the game they managed another two goals in quick succession.

Not a flattering scoreline, but an impressive performance from our young players.
