Mens 7s vs Ipswich M6 Dev

Men's 7s Match Report 08.03.25

At this stage of the season, Magpies 7 squad is riding high with a series of very sound wins under their belt. So, it was not surprising that they took to the pitch with a quiet confidence and a determination to keep the “perfect” record going.

The team was immediately into their very familiar style with good close stick work, accurate passing and thoughtful running off the ball. It was only the Ipswich goalkeeper who was having an excellent game, that prevented Magpies from scoring in the very early stages of the game. Eventually, a well worked series of passes led to Noah’s first opportunity, and he slid the ball past the keeper for goal number one. Not long after, David stepped up to crack his shot from the top of the circle, beating the keeper with its pace and accuracy.

In the second half Magpies again put the pressure on and a shot from Ian was deflected off an Ipswich foot to make the score 3 -0. Noah wrapped everything up with his second goal to bring the final score to a very creditable 4-0 win and a 4th place position in the league. Towards the end of the game, a really good Ipswich attack brought out a very well judged save from goalkeeper Noah.

There are three games to go until the end of the season. One game is against top of the table IES 3 and another is against Colchester 4 who are in second place. But at the moment Magpies are on equal points with IES 4 and it would certainly be possible to finish in third place. What a sensation this would be if this happened!!

Well played boys …. Just keep up the good work right to the end. Thank you to James, David and Richard for your support and help throughout. Thank you to Rae, to the water carriers and the umpires and to Holly who provided some excellent refreshments. And lastly, thank you to the spectators, parents and friends for their continued support, pitch-side coaching advice and their appreciation of a well-played game.
