Womens 8s vs Broadland W3

Men's 8s Match Report 12.10.24

We played Broadland at home on a cold Saturday morning. I arrived in the changing room to shouts of ‘we’re top of the league’! Long may it last.

Broadland were very swift with their passing and had good, strong players so Peg Bridges, goalkeeper, had her work cut out. However, the 8s also had a strong team and our defenders, Rachel and Rosie Baynes, Tolly, Daphne Beckett and Phoebe Garrard worked hard and sent the ball flying out to the midfields and forwards. Young Hannah Brown and Jasmine Christopher, joint Players of the Match, made fantastic sprints with the ball to Broadland’s circle but their goalkeeper was quick to defend her goal.

During half time, Anouska gave us a good tip about moving to our left thus making the opponent move to our strong side for a tackle. The second half saw a few short corners on both sides, but their defenders were always ready, as were ours, yet our shots on goal seemed to go a little wide of the mark. Amelia Stott made some fine runs as did Becky Holledge, our amazing goal-scorers from last week, yet Broadland were a different ‘kettle of fish’. Alison Priest ran her heart out in midfield and made some fine tackles. Despite no goals on either side, it was a great game.

Score: 0 - 0
