Mens 1s vs Cambridge City M1

Men's 1s Match Report 02.02.25

The Men's 1st travelled to Cambridge on Sunday to resume their campaign after the Christmas break. With a new coach, manager and fresh outlook the lads had it all to play for.

The first quarter started with Cambridge catching the men's defence off guard, winning a early short corner leading to a goal. Then Cambridge caught a certain match report writer off guard and scored a swift goal from an unmarked forward.

Magpies fought hard with good spells of possession with strong attacking play from Ben Emms, Will Donsworth and Simon Hipwell. Myles King and Lawry Williams, both got off shots but were saved from a well drilled keeper.

Magpies played a much better second half. Although once again a certain writer took cover while tracking back after an aerial that led to a goal. King struck with a short corner in the 3rd quarter, and with that they were back in the fight. With decent link ups from Ben Brand and Olly Buck they pushed hard and showed fight leading to another goal from Hipwell this time. They had plenty of more chances from new man Meakin a welcome addition to the team. Williams scored to make it 5-3. But as much as they tried they couldn't quite get it over the line. With the final score being 5-3 Cambridge.

We go again on Saturday against old rivals Norwich.
